Its for exotic rams mostly, but hogs and axis deer too in Texas near Camp Wood, TX (see mapquest). I'll put pictures and answer questions if you are interested. Several forum members have hunted there before,
its an economical exotic hunt with some potential for big ones and/or good meat too. Its a $45 5 day over the counter out of state hunting liscense unless Texas raises that Sept.1. Two more people and we'll have a drawing for a free second $190 ram at the hunt.
*****************
That's arrive at the ranch just northeast of Camp Wood, TX, Sept. 18, 2009 (friday) in the afternoon and leave by 12 noon Sept.20. Friday afternoon through sunday morning.
We get a free $190 second ram for every 10 hunters we book here, so that's an advantage of going with the group, besides all the comradery. We have the whole ranch available that weekend for our group if we can get the deposits in. Sign up and we'll send in our $100 deposits. We are allowed to replace ourselves if we can't go.
Corsican, Mouflon type, Hawiian black, Texas dall that makes the Texas Slam for Records of Exotics. We can get those there.
Catalina or New Zealand mountain goat and rambo or Merino added to those 4 makes the Big Horn Slam in Records of Exotics. We can get those there.
Others we sometimes get there are Four horn, Ibex, Aoudad, and Painted desert rams and 3 of those 4 added to the above 6 makes for an Excellence Award in Records of Exotics.
Last time there there were some axis bucks, but that's rare. However, a ranch about 20 miles south of Campwood has them and we can go there if you want. At least one is, friday morning, to start.
There will be some hard antlered big fallow and sika bucks around that time of year. We can make special arrangements to hunt other exotics at nearby ranches if desired.
It will be a $100 deposit to assure a spot, mailed to me, made out to Thompson Temple, the ranch owner. He's been doing this for thirty years and does it well. We start the sign up now and its first come, first served. He allows us to replace ourselves, if we get sick or something, but remember this deposit may be lost, if you can't attend also.
My e-mail to get the address is t_prihoda@yahoo.com.
We will do a draw for the free rams we get at the hunt, including preference points for those who have put in a deposit before and not drawn and come again.
Its arrive on friday afternoon, settle in, hunt on our own if we want. Sat. am, pm, and sunday am we get taken out and dropped off, like a Texas deer hunt. There are also a few canyons to walk for those who want to do that.
We get hogs and aoudads (from the main pasture behind the house) and two nights, friday and saturday, in the bunkhouse (a-frame or house trailer) for the $100. Other rams are extra, depending on what you get and multiple ones are often taken. We do group meals and drinks, so plan on that if you want to participate there.
It will be a light jacket in the am and pm and pleasant midday without a jacket if the weather is normal.
Post up pictures of previous rams, so new members can see what we get. Members have taken many top rams on these hunts. There are categories in Records of Exotics for each species and subspecies with bow, muzzleloader, rifle, and pistol in Records of Exotics. If an animal qualifies, the $20 entry fee is covered by Thompson, the ranch owner and guide for the weekend, which is really nice of him. Be sure and thank him at the hunt.
We have started the sign up, so try to let everyone know who you think is interested to get their deposit in. See you there! Post questions too, if you have them. If you look at old threads, you'll see some pictures but they are long threads, so I hope we get some pictures posted here, so new members don't have to look hard.
We have 20 spots!

I'm going and taking some axis salami, with jalepeno and cheese. We share meals. Those 8 are from Keith Warren's forum and have all been there before. I just finished a Big Horn Slam with pistol in June, so I don't know if I will hunt this Sept., just guide and enjoy the group, that for sure.
At the last one in June, we got blackbuck, axis, and aoudad also, besides some ROE Bighorn slam and Excellence Award animals also. That award is 3 of the 4, aoudad, ibex, painted desert and 4 horn on top of the Bighorn slam.

He'll be there in spirit, I'm thinking, though he is half way around the world. Wasn't the last hunt you two guys did together that fly hunt in Iraq? You got quite a few, as I recall too. You want to get an axis doe or a ram Coz, you're back, if you want to go, this is a good opportunity? The axis meat is highly desireable and the ram meat makes good sausage. I'll bring some to taste, if you want.
You can make it hard or easy, walking the canyons or sitting in a blind. Plus, there's been hogs there at night the last few times there and you can get all you want as part of the $100 deposit.
